BreakPoint: Flag on the Play

Doctor's Killer Puts Abortion on the Stand

WICHITA, Kan. — Scott Roeder, the man charged with murder in the shooting of George R. Tiller, one of the few doctors in the country to perform late-term abortions, took the witness stand in his own defense on Thursday, and said that, yes, he did it.

Yes, he bought a gun. Yes, he took target practice. Yes, he had learned about Dr. Tiller’s habits, his home address, his security precautions. And, yes, he shot Dr. Tiller last May 31 as Dr. Tiller stood inside his church.

“That is correct, yes,” Mr. Roeder told the jurors, in a calm, matter-of-fact voice.

But there was a twist.

Lawyers for Mr. Roeder, who provided the only testimony for the defense in a trial that has spanned several weeks, are hoping that jurors will consider Mr. Roeder’s motive: his growing opposition to abortion, which he deemed criminal and immoral, and his mounting sense that laws and prosecutors and other abortion opponents were never going to stop Dr. Tiller from performing them.

“I did what I thought was needed to be done to protect the children. I shot him,” he testified, adding at another point, “If I didn’t do it, the babies were going to die the next day.”

Was he remorseful? No, Mr. Roeder said without emotion. After the killing, he said, he felt “a sense of relief.”

And so, in a way, the hearing here, watched intensely by all sides of the abortion debate, turned into precisely what the presiding judge had said all along that it ought not to be — a trial over abortion.

The truth about abortion needs to be exposed to the light of day as is indicated in this article.

If there is nothing "wrong" with abortion why are people afraid to "look" and actually "see" the bodies. Why do we rescue Haitian babies through adoption but pay for aborting our own MN babies with tax dollars? Click here for the actual numbers.

It's wonderful to rescue those Haitian children and anyone else who needs help, but we intentionally abort over 12,000 humans a year in Minnesota. We are wasting a precious natural resource, not to mention destroying image bearers of God (Gen. 1:26) because we refuse to look aborted babies in the face!

Maybe I sound like a broken record, but is anyone else bothered by our collective hypocrisy?

Pro-Life Rally at MN State Capitol

An annual ritual since the mid-1970s unfolded Friday on the State Capitol grounds as abortion opponents rallied to mark the anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to legalize the procedure.

The Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life rally featured Gov. Tim Pawlenty, Lt. Gov. Carol Molnau and former Sen. Norm Coleman at what is traditionally one of the state's largest gatherings at the Capitol.

Top scientist finally admits abortion-breast cancer link

by Jill Stanek

Finally! Someone brave enough to speak up and address the truth about abortion's link to breast cancer. It is maddening to find that the "sacred cow" of abortion would be protected at the risk of women being denied information that having an abortion could lead to an inceased risk of breast cancer. Check out the science behind this potential risk to women here.

Join the VIRTUAL March for Life

On January 22, 1973 the U.S. Supreme Court handed down their Roe v. Wade decision. Every year since, on the anniversary of this tragedy, Americans have gathered in Washington, DC for the annual March for Life. This remarkable showing of support for life has literally brought millions of people to our nation's Capital over the years, but millions more have been unable to take part and stand for life. Until today.

AUL Action is excited to announce the first ever, Virtual March for Life! If you are unable to join fellow Americans in Washington, DC you can still stand and be counted by going to VirtualMarchforLife.com now.

It's very easy to do and will only take seconds. Go to this website, choose an avatar for yourself, and then we will place “you” in front of the U.S. Capitol building alongside other Americans marching online.

With a health care bill that includes taxpayer funding for abortion hanging in the balance, this is an important, historic opportunity to get the attention of politicians in Washington. In this critical moment, every American must be heard regardless of where you are. Hundreds of thousands of Americans are coming to Washington, DC to join the most important March for Life in history, and you can be there through the Virtual March for Life!

March in Washington Request

There is an urgent new video posted at: http://www.StopTheAbortionMandate.com.

On Friday, January 22, hundreds of thousands of pro-life Americans will gather on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., to memorialize the 37th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision that imposed abortion on America.

This year, our presence in Washington is more important than ever, as Congress prepares to vote on a sweeping health care takeover that would mandate abortion coverage and government funding of abortion.

It is critical that the 72% of Americans opposed to this abortion-laden health care join together and take a public stand, saying with one unified voice: "NO Abortion in Health Care!"

Here's what you need to do RIGHT NOW to help stop the abortion mandate...

1.) Watch the brand new video online at: http://www.StopTheAbortionMandate.com.

2.) If at all possible, ATTEND the 2010 Pro-Life March at 12 Noon (Eastern) on Friday, January 22 on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., to send a clear message to Congress: "NO Abortion in Health Care!"

3.) SPREAD THE WORD to everyone you know -- through e-mail, by phone, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube -- inviting them to also come to Washington on Friday, January 22.

4.) MAKE signs for the 2010 Pro-Life March with one focus: "NO Abortion in Health Care!"

Grab some poster board and markers, and write messages like these to bring along:
* NO Abortion In Health Care!
* NO Abortion Funding in Health Care!
* Stop the Abortion Mandate
* Death is not Hope; Death is not Health Care
* Don't Force Me to Pay for Abortions!
* Abortion is NOT Health Care
* Vote AGAINST Government Funded Abortion in Health Care
* Taxpayer Funded Abortion is a National Tragedy

5.) SCHEDULE VISITS at your Senators' and Congressman's offices while in D.C. to tell them: "NO Abortion in Health Care!"

Everything you need for these simple steps can be found in the "Pro-Life March '10 Action Pack" at: http://www.StopTheAbortionMandate.com.

This could be our LAST CHANCE to take a stand and be heard before Congress votes on a health care bill that could result in the largest expansion of abortion since Roe v. Wade.

Roe v. Wade | Optimistic signs point to a changing abortion debate | Marvin Olasky

Societies change from the top down or the bottom up.

The abortion regime in the United States arrived via top-down imposition.

A Gallup poll in 1972 showed 66 percent of Americans opposing abortion legalization. That year Detroit newspapers heavily supported a Michigan referendum to establish abortion on demand through the first five months of pregnancy, but 61 percent of Michigan voters said no. In North Dakota, 77 percent of voters turned down a similar referendum. Nevertheless, in 1973 seven U.S. Supreme Court justices imposed their beliefs on the nation.

Over time, top-down pressures have an effect on popular sentiment. That's why Moody, the evangelical magazine, asked in 1980 whether evangelicals had been co-opted: "We've organized no protest. . . . The Catholics have called abortion 'The Silent Holocaust.' The deeper horror is the silence of the evangelical."

A Beginning of Hope

I just got word that the video that was done about MWC as a student project by Micah J Murray won first place in the National Association for Religious Broadcasters Contest in the Student Production, documentary category. This means that it will be screened at the NARB convention in Nashville in February and shown to all the attendees!

Micah, the producer, is a student at Northwestern College in the film school. He initially found MWC on-line and called us to ask about doing a documentary about the Center (at no charge!). His assignment was to do a story about someone whose life had made a difference. Micah will be honored with the award at the convention in Nashville and gets a free trip to the convention!

This is another confirmation for me that what Satan meant for evil in my life through abortion, God is turning to GOOD!
