U.K. Artist Kills Herself After Aborting Twins

Sunday, February 24, 2008 Fox News

A British artist, expressing remorse and regret, hanged herself after aborting her twins when she was eight weeks pregnant, London's Sunday Telegraph reported.

"I should never have had an abortion," Emma Beck wrote in a note she left. "I see now I would have been a good mum."

The note continued: "I told everyone I didn't want to do it, even at the hospital. I was frightened; now it is to late. I died when my babies died. I want to be with my babies: they need me, no one else does."

Beck, 30, was found in her home on February 1 and pronounced dead the following day, her 31st birthday. She terminated the pregnancy after breaking up with her ex-boyfriend, who "reacted badly" to her pregnancy, the Telegraph reported.

OUT and ABOUT!

posted by Colleen Tronson, Director

I have been enjoying being out and about among the churches, sharing what the Lord has been doing through the ministry of Metro Women's Center. I was with the ladies of Family Baptist Church for a women's ministry program and enjoyed a great day with them.

During the month of February we were able to share our work with Eden Baptist Church, Fourth Baptist Church, and were also able to travel UP NORTH to the Boy River Log Chapel and Faith United Fellowship to share the blessings of the ministry with those churches. We were able to get outside and enjoy a walk in the woods in Boy River!

Many of these groups are using baby bottles to help MWC raise funds for our Amazing Grace Maternity Home, by filling them with change and other funds. At least 12 full bottles have been returned to me, and our fund continues to grow -- over $125,000 so far!

Lauren Richardson Becomes Next Terri Schiavo as Parents Debate Euthanasia

by Steven Ertelt, LifeNews.com Editor
February 1, 2008

Dover, DE (LifeNews.com) -- A Delaware woman has become the next Terri Schiavo as her parents engage in a massive legal and philosophical debate about whether to subject her to euthanasia. Richardson is a 23-year-old woman who overdosed on heroin in August 2006 while she was three months pregnant with a baby girl.

Doctors kept Lauren on life support until she delivered her baby in February 2007. Shortly thereafter, her parents began a fight that is reminiscent of the battle over Terri's life and death.

As in the Terri Schiavo case, physicians have been quick to label Lauren as having a persistent vegetative state -- something Terri's family called dehumanizing and medically inaccurate as patients have recovered from it.

Edith Towers, Lauren's mother, wants to remove her feeding tube and starve and dehydrate her to death in the same manner that Michael Schiavo subjected Terri. Read more: http://www.lifenews.com/bio2323.html

The Tribune-Democrat:
Faith, Not 'Facts', Carries Woman Forward

by Dan Irwin
NEW CASTLE NEWS (NEW CASTLE, Pa.)

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — Search the Internet, and there are several “80s” that come up in reference to Down syndrome. Eighty percent of babies with Down syndrome are born to women who are under age 35, the March of Dimes reports. With recent advancements in clinical treatment, as many as 80 percent of adults with Down syndrome reach age 55, and many live even longer, according to the National Down Syndrome Society.

However, the most prevalent “80” — appearing on multiple sites — is that in America, more than 80 percent of babies diagnosed prenatally with Down syndrome are aborted.

Bobbie McIlwain, though, refused to go along with the crowd. Today, because of her resolve, she and her husband, Jeff, are the parents of healthy 17-month-old twin girls.

Update on Comforter's Center in Uganda- Veronica Nakyewe

Reaching Muslims
In her January 2008 report for the Comforter’s Centre (Kampala, Uganda), Veronica Nakyewe writes: “God has blessed abundantly our work by providing an avenue by which we are able to present the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. The centre moved to an accessible location near slum areas Namuwongo, Kisugu, and Kibuli. Kibuli is a stronghold of the Muslim community in Uganda. Some of our clients are these Muslim [women], single or married in polygamous Muslim families. Through the Comforter’s Centre they get an opportunity to receive the One through whom salvation comes (Acts 4:12). They come for pregnancy services, Bead Cycle, etc., but are also launched to a brand new start.” She also reported on the post-abortion conference held at the end of January. They had over 30 participants, and Harriet Walude was the facilitator. You may remember praying for Harriet last year when she lost a leg in a traffic accident. Action Needed: The United States Must Not Export Death!
The House Foreign Affairs Full Committee is scheduled to vote on the PEPFAR/Global AIDS Reauthorization bill this Thursday. The current draft by Chairman Tom Lantos (D-CA) strips out the pro-abstinence and pro-faithfulness values that have made the program successful, especially in Africa. The new bill would change PEPFAR into a massive $10 billion per year giveaway that will be tilted toward abortion merchants and promoters. Please take a moment to call the offices of House members on the Foreign Affairs Committee and tell them to protect the values written into the current PEFAR legislation: protection of pro-abstinence and anti-prostitution requirements. Tell them that the successful PEPFAR program should not be hijacked to spread U.S. taxpayer-funded abortion around the world. http://www.frc.org/get.cfm?i=AL08B02&f=WA08B04

Huckabee Criticizes Romney For Changing Positions
"I think you can't just have a change of opinion on fundamental issues over and over and wait until you're running for president to do it," Huckabee said on Friday to supporters in Oklahoma City, adding, "To say you never thought about the origins of human life until you were nearly 60 years old, I find that hard to believe, even for someone who hadn't run for public office." Romney, speaking to reporters in Denver, said, "Governor Huckabee is always good for a good chuckle," adding that "while there's occasionally a time of natural humor, I think the presidency is more serious than that comment suggests. http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/96120.php
Editor: I thought Huckabee sounded dead serious.

NY Times Calls for Inspection of RU486 Plant
The FDA — and American consumers — got another warning last week about the need for vigilant monitoring of imported drugs from the developing world, especially from China. The contamination of a drug used to treat Chinese leukemia patients should also raise alarms at multinational pharmaceutical companies that plan to outsource manufacturing to China. The same company is the sole supplier to the United States of the abortion pill known as RU486. That pill is made at a different factory that passed an FDA inspection in May and was inspected three times in recent months by Chinese drug regulators. Still, in light of the company’s current difficulties, the FDA would be wise to re-inspect the plant promptly to ensure that the RU486 production facility is adhering to rigorous quality control procedures. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/03/opinion/03sun2.html?_r=1&oref=slogin

"For the love of Christ contraineth us."
1 Corinthians 5:14

At MWC it is a challenge not to get so wrapped up in helping with the "physical" needs aspect of ministry that the person's deepest need for Christ gets lost in the conversation. People come to us with "needs" all the time (diapers, rent, etc.), but the greatest need is a heart change that leads to a lifestyle change. We must remind ourselves that pointing people to Christ is the only long-term answer to their problems. Lasting change in a person's life happens when a "spiritual" need is met through the Gospel. Thank you for standing with us as we minister to our clients spiritually as well as physically.

Praises:
  • A baby was rescued form abortion through a conversation with the child's father this week.
  • Baby with hole in her heart is doing well--no problems and future looks good.
  • A client who we have been praying for and working with for over 8 years finally seems to have gotten her life on track. She has been sober for over 6 months and has a job and is parenting her 3 year old, BIG PRAISE!
  • Made contact with a woman through e-mail who was in desperate need of help - over 6 months pregnant and she has had no help. Pray for her salvation and for her complicated family situation.
  • Our client support program materials have been translated into Spanish by a volunteer, so we can continue to have a ministry to our Spanish-speaking clients.
  • Finances for the month of January held steady, and we received the promised gift of $30,000 for the maternity home. Balance for the home is now over $125,000! One of our supporting churches tripled their financial support, and another increased their support significantly.

  • Our blog is up and running.

  • From October 1 - December 31 2007, the Gospel was shared 74 times with our clients, and 15 Bibles were distributed.

  • Brist Chiropractic will again be sponsoring a fund-raising event for the center, February 18-22, to raise funds for the client assistance fund. Check out the blog next week for more information.
