Update on Comforter's Center in Uganda- Veronica Nakyewe
Reaching Muslims
In her January 2008 report for the Comforter’s Centre (Kampala, Uganda), Veronica Nakyewe writes: “God has blessed abundantly our work by providing an avenue by which we are able to present the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. The centre moved to an accessible location near slum areas Namuwongo, Kisugu, and Kibuli. Kibuli is a stronghold of the Muslim community in Uganda. Some of our clients are these Muslim [women], single or married in polygamous Muslim families. Through the Comforter’s Centre they get an opportunity to receive the One through whom salvation comes (Acts 4:12). They come for pregnancy services, Bead Cycle, etc., but are also launched to a brand new start.” She also reported on the post-abortion conference held at the end of January. They had over 30 participants, and Harriet Walude was the facilitator. You may remember praying for Harriet last year when she lost a leg in a traffic accident. Action Needed: The United States Must Not Export Death!
The House Foreign Affairs Full Committee is scheduled to vote on the PEPFAR/Global AIDS Reauthorization bill this Thursday. The current draft by Chairman Tom Lantos (D-CA) strips out the pro-abstinence and pro-faithfulness values that have made the program successful, especially in Africa. The new bill would change PEPFAR into a massive $10 billion per year giveaway that will be tilted toward abortion merchants and promoters. Please take a moment to call the offices of House members on the Foreign Affairs Committee and tell them to protect the values written into the current PEFAR legislation: protection of pro-abstinence and anti-prostitution requirements. Huckabee Criticizes Romney For Changing Positions
"I think you can't just have a change of opinion on fundamental issues over and over and wait until you're running for president to do it," Huckabee said on Friday to supporters in Oklahoma City, adding, "To say you never thought about the origins of human life until you were nearly 60 years old, I find that hard to believe, even for someone who hadn't run for public office." Romney, speaking to reporters in Denver, said, "Governor Huckabee is always good for a good chuckle," adding that "while there's occasionally a time of natural humor, I think the presidency is more serious than that comment suggests. http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/96120.php

NY Times Calls for Inspection of RU486 Plant
The FDA — and American consumers — got another warning last week about the need for vigilant monitoring of imported drugs from the developing world, especially from China. The contamination of a drug used to treat Chinese leukemia patients should also raise alarms at multinational pharmaceutical companies that plan to outsource manufacturing to China. The same company is the sole supplier to the United States of the abortion pill known as RU486. That pill is made at a different factory that passed an FDA inspection in May and was inspected three times in recent months by Chinese drug regulators. Men Conspired To Murder Pregnant Woman
Prosecutors have charged two men in a conspiracy to murder a 20-year-old pregnant woman in Lansing, Kansas. Investigators say it started when one man tried to blow up Olivia Jackson's house with a pipe bomb in Leavenworth in early January. On Tuesday night, Jackson, who's baby was due in five weeks, was found shot to death in a mobile home park. Read the full story here.

It has been learned that five abortion mills were raided on August 1, 2007, by a special unit of the LA Police Department called the Health Authority Law Enforcement Task Force, which is responsible for investigating crimes that impact public health. The operator of the infamous abortion boat that has sailed outside European nations that prohibit abortions is in Canada for the twentieth anniversary of legalized abortion there. Despite the fact that it has killed a Canadian woman and 12 others worldwide, Rebecca Gomperts complains the abortion drug isn't widely available in rural areas. The abortion drug, also known as mifepristone, has been responsible for more than 1,110 medical complications in the United States alone. From what is now considered medical waste might be fashioned bio-treasure: stem cells able to form into any of the body's 220 cell types, including blood, nerves, bone, and skin tissue. Scientists at Children's Hospital Boston have forged stem cells from the "flawed" and "poor quality" early-stage embryos that in vitro fertilization clinics discard by the hundreds of thousands every year. These are embryos created by IVF technicians but culled because abnormalities make them unsuitable for implantation into the wombs of women unable to conceive naturally. The embryos, usually containing no more than a few score cells, are deemed medical waste and simply tossed away.
