Did She Really Say This?
Pelosi: Fewer babies = stronger economy

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi stirred up a hornet's nest by promoting the idea of spending of millions of dollars on birth control and abortion as part of the economic stimulus package.
"Contraception," argued Pelosi, "will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government." Her comments came on ABC's This Week when asked by host George Stephanopoulos how expanding "family-planning services" to the tune of millions of dollars will stimulate the economy. OneNewsNow sought reaction from Susan Fani, director of communications for the Catholic League.
"It's quite shocking, actually, that the Speaker of the House -- who claims to be Catholic -- would go on national television and claim that contraception would reduce the cost to the government," exclaims Fani. "It's just beyond words, really."
Catholic League president Bill Donohue finds her comments revealing. "We have reached a new low when high-ranking public office holders in the federal government cast children as the enemy," he offers in a press statement. "But at least it explains their enthusiasm for abortion-on-demand."
America needs to produce 2.1 children per couple to keep up with births to support the population -- and that rate is not being maintained. Economies in Europe have been especially hurt by a drop in birth rates.
MWC Comment: What happens when you terminate one in three future taxpayers for the past 35 years? The economy suffers! Those babies could have been using diapers, formula, clothing, daycare services, educational services (teachers and schools), buying cars, considering going to college, planning weddings, buying houses, and those who would have been turning 35 this year (had they not been aborted in the early 1970's) would now have been producing families of their own. When you wonder why . . .
. . . you are going through at trial or difficulty in your life, remember that the Lord might be able to use it to help someone else along the way. That was my situation today with two different situations:
Because of my previous abortions, when a woman is considering having an abortion, I can talk to her about how it affected me and caused great emotional, spiritual, and yes, even some physical damage in my life. By sharing the truth of my experience with a woman today, I was able to encourage her to slow down and think through her decision BEFORE she made a permanent choice. I will never stay silent about abortion's devastation in my life and the restoration that came to me through the shed blood of Christ if it means that another person can be spared from experiencing an abortion and one child's life can be spared.
A relative of mine is being drawn into a religious cult, and it drove me to learn why the cult was wrong, biblically. Well, today, a person came to me for help on another matter and told me they were studying with this same "cult". Because I had previously studied the "cult", I was able to point out some dangers and encourage them to rethink their involvement. If I had not done that in an effort to help my relative see the truth, I would not have been prepared to share with the person today!

Golden Agers
We had a lovely time sharing the ministry of MWC with the "Golden Agers" at Fourth Baptist Church in Plymouth today. The group meets on Wednesdays, and they are a tremendous gathering of "seasoned saints" who love to pray for our ministry. One of the ladies will be 97 year old soon, and she told me, "I'm still here because God must have something else for me to do." What a tremendous attitude to have and a great example of service with a great attitude!

Obama Makes Schiavo's Lawyer Third-Ranking Justice Official
Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Barack Obama has named the lawyer who represented Terri Schiavo’s husband Michael in his efforts to kill his disabled wife as the third highest attorney in the Justice Department. Thomas Perrelli, who won an award for representing Schiavo's former husband, had served on Obama's transition team. The incoming president made Perrelli an associate attorney general and his appointment is generating scorn from pro-life advocates. Perrelli provided Michael Schiavo with legal advice during his response to the Congressional bill that President Bush signed allowing the Schindler family to take their lawsuit seeking to prevent Terri’s euthanasia death from state to federal courts. He led the legal team that developed the legal briefs for Michael opposing appeals and he ultimately received the Albert E. Jenner, Jr. Pro Bono Award in October 2006 for representing Terri’s former husband at no cost. Andrea Lafferty, executive director of the Traditional Values Coalition, told the Washington Times Tuesday that Obama's appointment of Perrelli is "just another death-peddler Obama has added to his list of nominees." 2nd Black Pro-Life Leader Urges Obama to Oppose Abortion
Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- A second black pro-life leader has issued comments urging incoming president Barack Obama to reverse course on abortion and oppose instead of promoting it. Alveda King, the niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is leading a group of African Americans with a pro-life message for Obama. Her comments come on the heels of Day Gardner asking Obama to oppose abortion as president. King and a group of community leaders are gathering in Atlanta today to discuss an agenda to be presented to Obama regarding his first 100 days in office. They say they appreciate that Obama is the first black president to serve in the White House and say that is a milestone for America. However, they believe that achievement will be undone if Obama promotes abortion as he has said he would do. "African Americans, like many Americans, are pro-life," King told LifeNews.com. "As we see the dawn of a new year and a great milestone being passed, people across the country should let our new president know that we want babies in the womb protected," she added.
